With a heavy heart I share this with you from the Daily News:
“I’m devastated,” said Robert McBroom, who, along with wife Cathy, has sunk millions into keeping the nearly 30-acre Pierce College Farm Center afloat. “My wife and I put everything into this, everything we own. We have 21 employees, plus almost 200 seasonal staff.
“(We’re) the largest employer of Pierce College students on the Pierce College campus, from active to farming staff. They will no longer have jobs.”
The eviction by the former agricultural college of its last working farm reverses a master plan to create a model farm and agricultural education center on the once weed-covered corner of De Soto Avenue and Victory Boulevard.
