Are you hosting the holiday celebration at your home this year? Got family in town and need to find local activities. We compiled a list with you in mind – there are many things going on in and around the valley —  keep everyone busy.

Holiday Light Displays

Granada Hills – Tree Lighting CeremonyFriday December 4th at 6pm. Address: Zelzah Avenue at Chatsworth Street, Granada Hills, CA 91344

Griffith Park – Holiday Light Festival Train Ride: “Starting the day after Thanksgiving, join us for an evening train ride around our festively decorated, one mile of track. Magical scenes and tens of thousands of lights will captivate you and your family and set the mood for a wonderful Holiday season. The Ride Begins Friday November 27, 2015 at 5 pm. And continues every night until December 23 and then again from December 26 to December 30 – weather permitting. The first train will leave at 5 pm and the last train leaves at 9 pm. We reserve the right to close early if we reach maximum capacity or the weather is not cooperating.”

Los Angeles – L.A. Zoo Lights: Until January 3rd. 5333 Zoo Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90027.

Northridge  Ivy the Reindeer: On the SE corner at Hayvenhurt and Plummer.

ResedaYolanda Lights: Located at 7330 Yolanda Ave. “Please Park on Valerio near the school and enjoy the stroll through the light tunnels. Also sign our photo guestbook at 7330 Yolanda.”

Sherman Oaks – Lights on Display – Check site for dates and times. House address: 3901 Longview Valley Rd, Sherman Oaks. This is a fantastic light, music and animation show, perfect for kids of all ages.

Woodland Hills – Candy Cane Lane: Starts 2nd Saturday of December and runs through the end of the year. It has been a tradition in Woodland Hills since 1952! Santa has been seen posing for photos with children and some of Santa’s elves have been seen roaming. Between Lubao Avenue ad Oxnard Street. An eight square-block area in Woodland Hills is annually transformed into Candy Cane Lane, with a celebration of lights, figures and artificial snow.

Ice Skating

Burbank – Pickwick Ice: Year round ice skating.

Van Nuys – Iceland Ice Skating: General public skating is offered throughout the week and on weekends, starting at noon Monday-Friday and 2:15 on Saturdays and Sundays. You can also have a date night on Saturday as the place is open until 10pm.

Woodland Hills – Woodland Hills Ice: Open daily. Now open for its 7th season! Check site for dates and times. 7000 square feet of real ice for a unique annual tradition that creates memories to last a lifetime.


Chatsworth – Annual Holiday Parade and Festival: December 13th, 2015 – on Canoga, between Devonshire and Lassen Ave. Parade starts at 1 pm, travels east on Devonshire from Jordan to Lureline. Marching bands, clowns, horses, classic cars, pictures with Santa and more!

Granada Hills – Holiday Parade: Grand Marshal Noelle North- Chatsworth St., from Petit Park to Zelzah Ave., Granada Hills.

Charity, Concerts, Performances and Santa Claus



PALS Holiday Toy Drive 8721 Wilbur Ave, Northridge, CA 91324. On Saturday, December 14th, PALS will host its annual toy giveaway. We are gearing up for this great event where we focus on making the holidays bright for the youngest in our community. Our toy giveaway serves approximately 1,000 children and for some is the only gift they will receive. Please consider making this the year your organization, business, family, or office participates in our toy drive. Cal Lutheran Christmas Festival ConcertsThe CLU Choral Ensembles and University Symphony will combine forces to present the annual Christmas Festival Concerts. Welcome the holiday season with this special musical gift, featuring a narrated performance of Christmas music guaranteed to put you in the holiday mood.


California Dance Academy and Ensemble present the enchanting and cherished holiday ballet, The Nutcracker at the Calabasas Performing Arts Center on Saturday, December 19 and Sunday, December 20. This large scale professional production features over 100 academy dancers alongside professional guest dancers. Choreography is drawn from the legacy of William Christensen known for bringing the complete version of the Russian ballet The Nutcracker to the United States. Santa Claus

Janss Marketplace Thousand Oaks: November 27th, Jingle Jump & Santa’s Arrival, from 12pm Sharp – 3pm.

Also, most local malls have Santa Claus booths. Check the local mall website for more details, times and hours. *Call ahead to verify activities as weather or schedule may vary.
